Get Acoustica’s Pianissimo software, install in on your Windows PC, and a virtual, classic grand piano will delight you with its warm sound. Acoustica touted the fact that Pianissimo creates a stunning grand piano sound and explained that Pianissimo recreates the warmth, response, and playability of a real grand piano.

Pianissimo is available as a VSTi plug-in and as a standalone application. The VSTi will operate in any DAW with support for virtual instruments in the VSTi format. The Stand-Alone version supports any MIDI device, and any Wave, ASIO, or WaveRT device.

The system requirements for running Pianissimo are: 1.5GHz processor (2GHz dual core processor recommended); 1GB of RAM (2GB recommended); 1024 x 768 display resolution; sound card or sound device; USB or MIDI controller keyboard recommended; Windows operating system (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8).

A setup wizard will help you install Pianissimo on a PC that meets the system requirements presented above. Once the setup wizard is done and you launch Pianissimo for the first time, it will automatically load a Brahms Rhapsody demo file and start playing it.

The main part of Pianissimo’s interface is taken up by the image of a grand piano. It is an interactive image that allows you to lower the lid, press the piano keys, or press the piano pedals. At the top and at the bottom there are panels with links to various features and functions: master volume, tone controls, BMP, record, play, so on.

Pianissimo has a lot to offer: warm sound; lots of presets (solo grand piano, rock piano, 80s ballad piano, and more); metronome; play and record; hotkeys to start the playback and the recording process; pick an arm for recording; adjust the BPM, tempo & time signature, hammer sounds, tone, reverb, and master volume.

Pianissimo is shareware; it will work for 7 days before it must be registered with a valid ID and registration code.

Pianissimo sounds great, comes with a very good looking interface, and has quite a lot to offer. You’re very well advised to get it if you want to play with a virtual grand piano on your PC.

Pros

Pianissimo is available as a VSTi plug-in and as a standalone application. The interface is good looking and very easy to navigate. Lots of presets are available. Play, record, pick an arm for recording. Adjust the tempo, tone, reverb, and more. Warm, natural sounds. The trial is fully functional.

Cons

Trial limitations: 7-day trial.
